About

I started practicing 26+2 yoga in 2015 to balance out a demanding, high pressure network engineering job.  Shortly after starting my practice, I was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of breast cancer.  I continued to practice yoga throughout my diagnosis, most of my treatment, a double mastectomy, and reconstruction surgeries.  Practicing yoga kept me connected with my body and connected to community.  Not only did yoga help mitigate the physical effects of chemotherapy & surgeries, it eased the anxiety & mental distress associated with a cancer diagnosis.

In 2018, AT&T offered voluntary separations.  Although I loved my work, after 20 years with the company, I knew it was time for change.  Looking to combine my passion for yoga and a desire to serve, I took my first yoga teacher training with Evolation Yoga in June 2019.

I started teaching in-studio 26+2 classes and, in Jan 2020, I attended Inferno Hot Pilates teacher training.  When the studios shut down due to Covid, I taught friends & family via Zoom.  As the lockdown continued, I built this website to offer public classes and re-took 26+2 teacher training to refresh knowledge and ensure I was using best online teaching practices.

I graduated from Yin Yoga teacher training in Aug 2020 and, in addition to my classes on HGYoga, I started teaching 26+2 and Yin on Evolation’s streaming platform.  I began spending time at the Evolation yoga house helping teacher trainees study and providing feedback on their teaching.  I completed my Vinyasa Flow Yoga teacher training and have recently joined the Evolation teacher trainer staff.

Yoga saved my life and I’ve made it a personal mission to share its healing properties with as many people as possible.  My approach to teaching is rooted in my own recovery.  It is core, spine and breath-centric and I stress practicing with a pain-free range of motion; particularly with those recovering from injury.

With over 600 hours of teaching yoga & 200 hours leading mat pilates classes, I am experienced in teaching all levels and ALL abilities.  I bring impetus & motivation to energetic postures and exercises.  I bring calm & ease to class when needed.  I will help you find your best practice through encouragement, hard work, discipline, and - most importantly - self love!

I look forward to seeing you in class!

Every day is a journey and every class you proceed down your yoga journey. You get better and better at it each day, each day getting more balance, strength, flexibility as well as mental strength. That is what I have learned throughout my yoga journey. I was in a savasana one day and thought, I need to be a yoga instructor because my whole world felt more clear and I wanted to bring that to others. As a mental health therapist, I recommend yoga and the art of mindfulness to everyone. With the practice of 26 postures, 2 breathing exercises, you will get stronger mentally and physically. Come practice with me!
